From 19 to 23 of May 2014 School of Civil and Water Resources Engineering has successfully organized training at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology conference room. The training was focusing on Channel erosion, stability, evolution and modeling and has been attended by M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates and interested faculty members.

 Staying for five days as an expert trainer, Eddy J. Langendoen, Research Hydraulic Engineer, National Sedimentation Laboratory, USDA. has take full time to conducted the training  

About the expert:
Eddy J. Langendoen, Research Hydraulic Engineer, National Sedimentation Laboratory, ARS, United States Department of Agriculture(USDA). He did his M.Sc. &Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands in 1987 and 1992 respectively. His research interest is in computational hydraulics, sediment transport mechanics, and channel evolution.

2nd International Conference on the Advancement of Science and Technology (ICAST-2104) will be held in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, 16-17 May, 2014. ICAS-2014 is hosted by Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT) with the objective of serving as a forum for the Universities, Educational Institutions and Industrials to interact and share knowledge and further strengthen cooperation for the exchange of ideas.

Bahir Dar University celebrates the closing event of  the 50th Anniversary of former Ploy Technique Institute on 04 April, 2014. On this celebration Dr. Baylie Damite BDU president,  Russian Ambassador representatives in Ethiopia, former graduates of Poly-Techniques institute,  higher officials and Instructors of BiT and EiTEX were participated on the event.
